Argan oil is produced from kernels of the argan trees, which grow only in southern Morocco, between the west coast and the Atlas Mountains. Argan tree is one of the oldest tree in the world, grows up to 10 meters and lives from 150 to 200 years. Argan fruits look like large green olives, up to the size of a plum. They contain 2-3 nuts inside and their shells are 16 times harder than hazelnut shells. They are still manually cracked, which is the most difficult and time-consuming part of argan oil production. It takes 30 kg of fruit and two days of hard work to provide 1 liter of oil.
